MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Accent furniture, wall décor, lighting and decorative accessory manufacturer Worlds Away’s latest showroom is in the heart of one of its best sales territories.

Last month, the Memphis, Tenn.-based supplier opened a permanent anchor showroom in New York’s Decoration & Design Building.

That territory has always been one of our top territories,” said Neal Edwards, executive creative director. “The Northeast has always been strong for us. By customer request, for years, people have been asking if we were going to open a permanent showroom and when.”

The company had shown previously at NY Now and had been looking for a space in New York for some time, Edwards said, although he noted the opening came later than officials had hoped due to COVID-19. “We felt the D&D Building was the best fit for us. We found a great space. We love being there.”

To manage the showroom, Worlds Away has hired Jack Mendell, who has worked in the D&D Building for the past five years. Located in suite 414, the space is open currently by appointment only.

Edwards said once conditions improve sufficiently and the building’s management gives the OK, he’s ready to start welcoming buyers and designers more frequently. “Right now, we’ve been trying to fine-tune everything,” he said. “I’m ready to hit the ground and start welcoming clients to the showroom.”

The D&D Building is located at 979 Third Avenue in Manhattan.
