NEW YORK – For the first time since launching in 2017, the TRNK Collection, an online furniture retailer, is expanding into a new product category with a line of travertine tables, which are sourced and produced in Portugal.
“I spent the better part of 2018 researching suppliers around the globe across all product categories,” said Tariq Dixon, TRNK founder. “I really fell in love with the idea that I came up with for the tables, so it jumped ahead of a few other product categories we already had in the pipeline.”
Dixon said the new tables are crafted from raw, solid travertine and brushed brass. The minimalist table series includes a coffee table, a side table and a dining table.
The new fall line also includes the addition of the Segment Series and Angle II Series of daybeds, chaise lounges, benches, armchairs, dining chairs and sofas, all in performance velvets.
“The process for designing the Segment Series was reductive. I asked how we can simplify these forms to make dense materials like solid stone or chunky upholstery feel a bit lighter?” Dixon said. “That’s how the small gaps between adjoining slabs, which now define the collection, came about. I also considered how light interacts with the product, allowing the occasional ray to peer through the slivers of negative space.”
The Segment Series includes a sofa, an armchair, a high-back dining chair, a chaise lounge and a daybed, all produced in southern California using high-density foam seat cushions, plywood frames and commercial-grade suspension systems.
The Angle II Series features sofas, dining chairs, armchairs and benches, also produced in California.
The new pieces from the TRNK Collection range in price from $1,595 to $6,895. In addition to its online retail shop, the TRNK Collection acts as a design studio and a curatorial platform.
