SINGAPORE – After an inaugural run earlier this fall, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council is hoping that a new digital platform will gain momentum in the coming months.

The platform was first launched in early October by the SFIC in conjunction with the Minister of State and supported by Enterprise Singapore. The initial launch included some 22 brands seeking to reach a broader audience around the world. Officials said they hope to expand this involvement to 100 local brands over the next two years.

The SFIC said the initiative reflects the industry’s goal to “take homegrown furniture expertise, capability and know-how into the region and internationally. Singapore furniture players have already made their mark in trust, reliability and quality. This platform will increase speed-to-market while fostering greater collaborations across disciplines and partners in the furniture trade.”

SFIC President Mark Yong said the initiative was timely due to the ongoing challenges associated with the global pandemic.

“The launch of Creativ-Space was the result of deep analysis of the strengths of where Singapore’s homegrown furniture industry is and where the opportunities lie,” he said. “With the current COVID-19 situation persisting, we believe this digital marketing tool will enable the industry to overcome traditional channels like furniture exhibitions and marketing trips to get closer to businesses and trade customers.”

SFIC officials said that prior to the pandemic, the organization already had begun initiatives that helped local small to mid-sized enterprises “embrace the digital wave to sharpen their competitiveness and expand their markets.” The pandemic, as it has elsewhere in the industry, hastened the need for the industry to employ digital solutions aimed at reaching new and existing customers.

Among the features the SFIC said help distinguish Creativ-Space from other digital initiatives include a 3D product showcase, themed virtual popups and physical exhibitions, curated product news and product features offered through dedicated newsletters, request for quotations that offer immediate sales leads and a data analytics dashboard that helps companies keep track of web traffic.
