HIGH POINT — While this year’s Showtime fabric market will look very different — with social distancing and other safety measures in place for COVID-19 — the events’ focuses remain on showing the latest and greatest from leather and textile resources.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the new patterns, textures, colors, leathers and stories that are on tap Nov. 15-18 in High Point for traditional Showtime.

SHOW -covington, jacinda horizontal

Covington, Jacinda

Covington will be introducing more than 300 SKUs, including an extension on its Hilary Farr celebrity collaboration. In a mix of coordinated prints, jacquards embroideries and more, new pieces rangefrom an Asian-inspired scenic toile design with coordinating geometric print to detailed animal skin embroideries. As an update to its Hilary Farr Love It collection, the company is adding new colorways to some of its best-selling patterns.

On the more technical side, Covington has developed new outdoor/indoor product and new colorways for existing patterns for its SPF brand. The company is focusing on expanding its performance brand, Armadura, and looking to add some recycled collections to its mix in the future.

Crypton Home will debut a diverse array of new collections. The indoor performance brand will prominently feature Crypton Abercrombie 2020, a grouping of jacquard patterns woven in North Carolina that comprises 35 patterns in four collections: Global Zen, Ethereal, Interlude and Art House.

It also will show more than a dozen new collections from its Crypton Home Global fabric offerings, showing off a variety of color and texture, from the corduroy texture of Mambo to the menswear tones and textures of the Swift collection and the sherbet-toned Mazin boucle.

Culp has once again expanded its LiveSmart performance family to introduce LiveSmart Ultra, a line of anti-microbial performance fabrics. LiveSmart Ultra offers the stain repellency and cleanability of LiveSmart but with the added protection of being anti-microbial.

Also part of the expanding LiveSmart family is the LiveSmart Outdoor brand, an outdoor-safe fabric option, and LiveSmart Evolve, a line that partners with Unifi Repreve to use recycled plastics in its yarns.

Also, the company will highlight its Unplugged collection color story. Offering rugged textures and global patterns inspired by handcrafted textile traditions rediscovered and reinvented, Unplugged showcases a modern bohemian style.

De Leo Textiles is tackling a new charitable program and two collection introductions this season. Penelope by De Leo is all about textures this round, with several new boucle yarns being introduced including a plush boucle plain called Revival. Carousel by De Leo is inspired by the allure of faraway places, with the collection itself being called Souk It Up, named for the spiced Souks of the Middle East. Color palettes are inspired by elements from nature:  delphinium, desert-willow, velvet-pine, lamb’s ear and redwood.

The fabric manufacturer will also be selling bags made of some of its would-be waste fabrics through its Upcycled for Hope program, which launched in North Carolina retail stores in March, the sales of which benefit the Epilepsy Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Global Textile Alliance  brands Symphony Mills and Ter Molst have been busy over the past few months preparing for the increase in demand that the furniture industry has been experiencing. Recently, Symphony launched a brand-new website so customers can order samples and have them delivered straight to their door. Ter Molst has launched a new website as well as a digital catalog with its new introductions.

The company reports that its reps are beginning to safely travel and will continue to hold virtual and early showings to accommodate buyers not traveling to High Point as it shows its signature velvets, jacquards and more.

With the addition of Turkey and India to its sourcing lists, Gum Tree Fabrics is broadening its product assortment, which also includes fabrics from China and the U.S. New products are highlighted in five new trend stories:

  • Blues Traveler offers everything from linens to chenilles and clean polyester solids and velvets in the tradition of indigo textiles.
  • Autumn in New York pulls together Art Deco, tribal and loft inspiration to create fabrics for industrial, modern spaces.
  • The Natural is part of a continual take on linen and natural textiles.
  • Gingerbread makes use of warm cinnamon and whiskey tones mixed with chocolates, taupes, grays and creams.
  • Modern Beauty blends glam and luster with gold tones and metal finishes to catch the eye.

Spotlight fabrics also include pieces from its watercolors collection.

SHOW - Milliken, Open Line 1368


Driven by its commitment to sustainability, Milliken and Co. continues to focus on creating fabrics with natural performance. The newly developed Artscape collection expands the brand’s cotton and cotton blend offerings that have been successful at retail. It offers a creative and modern approach to digital prints by introducing curated abstract and watercolor designs printed on its Breathe by Milliken natural fiber fabrics.

SHOW - Moore and Giles, Bethan Gray

Leather expert Bill Amberg will bring together leading creatives for his third collection of digitally printed leather hides with Moore and Giles. This year’s collaborators include Kesewa Aboah, Bethan Gray, Yinka Ilori, Amber Khokhar and Jonathan Saunders. Providing a modern take on leather decoration, the hides are designed for upholstery and interior architectural use.

SHOW - Morgan Fabrics, RAFAELLO

Alongside Morgan Fabrics’ introductions this fall are three new highlighted pieces: Belgravia, Rafaello and Moondance. Belgravia, a simple take on a Jacobean printed on a linen look, offers a soft color palette, and Rafaello is an updated take on a vintage velvet with an updated color palette of soft blues, grays and rose shades combined with neutrals. Moondance is a geometric design with hand drawn shapes that create a softer, ethereal effect.

Headlining at Nice Link Home Furnishings is its new printing capability that brings the company’s most popular and best-selling jacquard designs to life at sharp prices, designed to expand possibilities and value for furniture manufacturers. Creatively, collections for spring inspiration is split in four themes:

  • Print Party is a diverse collection of lively and bright patterns.
  • Urban Haven is driven mostly by lighter weight constructions of contemporary global-inspired patterns.
  • Power Play runs the table with geometrics in bold, optimistic and ageless color with a dose of humor and playfulness.
  • The Edited Choice is tactile, textural and offers lots of layering possibilities.

STI, Brentwood Textiles

Specialty Textiles Inc. and its brands will be doing virtual showings of its showroom during market to allow for remote visitors.

From the Revolution Performance Fabrics brand, the company has expanded its color palette and heavy texture boucles, and it continues to expand its outdoor offerings. At Brentwood Textiles, the brand is showing off a new collection of digital prints and several vintage-inspired chenilles that have the look of kilim rugs and needlepoint.

Both brands are highlighting several new color moves, with neutrals warming, soft green palettes growing in popularity and rich grays inspired by menswear increasing in prevalence.

Sunbrella  introduces its fall 2020 Showtime collection to “inspire timeless design through an eclectic and functional feel.” This curated collection was designed to appeal to a range of aesthetics encouraging personalization through a variety of colors, patterns and textures that allow for unique pairings of traditional and contemporary designs.

Multicolored textural fabrics such as Labyrinth offer a modern take on Greek key designs, while neutrals, marled yarns and linen-like textures capture an extra-soft hand in Iona. New yarns in espresso and terracotta are introduced through Addie, a contemporary interpretation of a tribal pattern; Bahasa’s small-scale, multihued pattern offers versatility; and the velvet-like hand of Align features a subtle twist yarn effect.

SHOW - Swavelle, Bella-Dura Home

Bella-Dura Home, Swavelle’s   latest brand launch last November, will introduce a collection of 48 softer and more decorative performance fabrics, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.  Highlighted looks include the black-and-cream patterned Kahanu, a bold tropical design featuring leaves cut out with intricate shapes and tossed on an organically textured ground that pairs with new colors of Firth, a linen-like plain. Adding texture to the group is Chilmark, a multicolored stripe with an accent of boucle yarn.

From the company’s TFA, Swavelle USA and Swavelle Upholstery brands, new and highlighted products touch on wovens, embroideries, prints and multi-purpose goods in trending colors and new textures, and include a collection of 33 new made in the U.S. fabrics.


Inspired by the natural beauty of sea coral, Ultraleather Reef Pro is the latest addition to Ultrafabrics’ animal-free fabric portfolio. Combining performance with a modern and matte aesthetic, Reef Pro features the Pro ink- and stain-resistant solution proven to protect against tough stains, and the material is Indoor Advantage Gold Certified.

The company has two launches planned for the first quarter of 2021. In January, it plans to expand the shade range of its first bio-based collection, Ultraleather Volar Bio, by adding earthy tones and transitional neutrals to the existing mineral inspired palette. In the spring, a new collection, Brisa Spectra, will deliver a graphic look in 18 shades in a nod to Bauhaus that expands the design possibilities within the flagship Brisa brand.

SHOW - Valdese, Linenia 2

Valdese Weavers will debut its Linenia collection. Exclusively engineered by Valdese Weavers, Linenia is a polyester-based yarn that was created to have the qualities of linen without the “scratchy hand, irregular colorations and the maintenance required with natural linen textiles.” Woven domestically, Linenia has inspired a full range of woven textiles across Valdese Weavers’ portfolio of brands. The innovative yarn platform is highly durable and can be combined to work with Crypton Home or High Performance EASE for added performance.
