HIGH POINT – Doug Stephens, a retail and consumer futurist and best-selling author, will be the keynote speaker at Furniture Today’s 15th annual Bedding Conference, set for May 18-20.
As the founder of global consultancy Retail Prophet, Stephens has made a name for himself as one of the world’s leading retail and consumer futurists. His books, “The Retail Revival” and “Reengineering Retail,” have predicted the transformation for retail in the post-digital world. In a new book, set for release in April, “Resurrecting Retail: The Future of Business in a Post-Pandemic World,” Stephens offers a roadmap for the industry outlining how a public health emergency of this size and scope will shape retail and consumer behaviors long after the threat of COVID-19 has passed.
His address will kick off the educational programming at the Bedding Conference. Presented online, the conference, themed Elevate|Retail, is designed to arm sleep retailers, manufacturers and suppliers with the tools and information needed to thrive in today’s ever-shifting environment. Creating and delivering a better consumer experience as the globe emerges from the challenges and changes of 2020 is vital to the success of the bedding industry.
Stephens keynote will be Tuesday, May 18. The rest of the day will be devoted to speakers and panel discussions on relevant topics.
Stephens’ research and insights help major organizations — such as Johnson & Johnson, BMW, Citibank, Disney and Google — understand exactly how trends in demographics, global economics, AI and media are forever altering consumer-brand relationships.
Prior to founding Retail Prophet, Stephens spent 20 years in retail, holding senior international roles, including the leadership of one of New York City’s most iconic retail chains. Stephens is also the syndicated retail columnist for CBC Radio Canada and appears regularly on North American and international radio and television shows.
