TORONTO — Leon’s, a Canadian retailer of furniture, mattresses, appliances and home electronics, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Leon’s Furniture Ltd., has opened its latest showroom in Calgary, Alberta, today.

The new Calgary store at CrossIron follows the recent opening of the new store in Kelowna, British Columbia, on Aug. 13.

“While online sales continue to grow, many customers are still looking for that tactile, in-store shopping experience when purchasing furniture, mattresses, appliances and electronics,” said Leon’s Divisional President Graeme Leon. “Alberta is a key market for Leon’s. CrossIron is our seventh store in the province, and we continue to look for additional expansion opportunities.”

The new showroom debuts a modernized facade built on company owned land. The 50,000-square-foot store is also the first smart-store concept in Calgary. It features wider aisles for spacious browsing, e-tags for instant price updates, a 12-foot video interactive wall and iPads for mobile customer transactions.

In keeping with current consumer trends, the store focuses on multi-functional furniture, such as retractable sofa-beds and lift-top coffee tables.
