MARTINSVILLE, Va. – H Contract, the contract furniture division of Hooker Furniture, has added stacking chairs to its lineup, a category that showcases its expertise in seating for senior living facilities.

The chairs are similar in nature to metal stacking chairs. However, they are built with wood frames and feature colorful cushioned seating, which the company said offers more of a residential design aesthetic. In addition to common areas and activity rooms, they can be used in dining areas due to their solid wood construction and stylish appeal.

The stacking functionality also allows the chairs to be conveniently stored when they are not in use, while providing “facilities with convenient storage and easy access to additional seating in a small footprint.”

“While this category is not new to the industry, it is a critical addition to our portfolio as we strengthen our position as a provider of the broadest assortment of products for the senior living market,” said Dean Jarrett, vice president and general manager of H Contract. “Our contract interior design partners are looking for pieces that are highly durable and functional, yet still offer a stylish, residential look. This addition to our product line achieves both of those goals.”

The chairs, which began shipping in September, include two models: the Carley and the Cassidy. The company said these are manufactured to the same commercial-grade standards as the existing H Contract dining chairs. This includes frames made with solid European beech, mortise and tenon joinery and durable wood finishes.
