And now let’s get back to the excitement of market. We’ve got several new bedding lines to discuss. That’s always a good thing.
AW Inds., the Maryland-based bedding maker, is firing on all cylinders this market, making introductions for three “S” brands in three separate showrooms, all of them in close proximity on the fifth floor of the International Home Furnishings Center’s Main wing.
I’m anxious to see the new Silentnight Bedding line, which marks the U.S. entry of that major United Kingdom bedding brand. A dozen Silentnight models will be introduced, some with coil counts of 3,000 coils or more.
A Serta licensee, AW Inds. also is introducing the new Perfect Sleeper collection with HeiQ Viroblock, which is 99% effective at preventing viruses from remaining active on the mattress, the company says. If there was ever a line right for the times, this is it.
And AW Inds. is also showing several new Sleepwell models.
Paramount Sleep is also bringing a loaded slate of introductions to market, including the launch of its new Paramount collection, which sports a 1930s Art Deco vibe and takes aim at Millennials and Gen Xers at retails from $2,000 to $4,000.
Paramount is also showing its new Nature’s Spa Aire collection, which is designed for environmentally conscious consumers who seek natural materials. Also debuting is a new cooling fabric option for the Back Performance PS collection.
Bedgear, which boasts some of the market’s most striking bedding showrooms, is launching the Air-X “air multiplier” mattress cover and is also highlighting its S mattress collection and the Cosmo and Glacier pillow collections.
Boxed beds continue to gain ground in the market, and several new models are being introduced in High Point.
Eclipse International has developed a 12-model lineup of boxed mattresses to retail from $499 to $1,499 in queen. The program will be supported by drop-shipping services direct from the factory to consumers.
Classic Brands is expanding its Hybrid Infinity bedding collection to six models, and describes the line as the industry’s first turnkey, omnichannel bedding program, offering specialty hybrid mattresses alongside a dedicated website, e-commerce platform, TV commercials and a robust social media program.
Looking for new adjustable bed bases? Check out the two new models at Malouf, which has an inviting first-floor showroom at Market on Green. Malouf’s M455 and the S655 bases complement Malouf’s existing adjustable bed base lineup, and those motion bases indicate that Malouf remains a company on the move.
And let’s welcome a new player to the bedding arena: Elements International Group, which has brought on bedding veterans Josh Micklos and Jeff Quinn to launch Elements Sleep, a new domestic mattress manufacturer. Elements Sleep is making a soft launch in High Point.
Yes, it will be a different kind of bedding market this October. But as the successful Premarket last month indicated, the industry has adapted to the pandemic climate. Temperature checks, masks, social distancing and plenty of handwashing are keys to keeping everyone safe and healthy.
